Janet Talley, PMP, FAC P/PM II, CSPO, is the Business Liaison to Information Technology (BLIT) for the Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM), Aviation Safety (AVS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). As the Senior Consultant to the Federal Air Surgeon for IT processes and systems, she manages AAM system releases, and works to ensure system availability and quality through her collaboration with the IT shared services organization. Janet has been with the FAA for 10 years, and was previously in private sector insurance company IT organizations. She holds a BBA in Computer Science from University of Central Oklahoma. As an experienced and certificated Project Manager (PMP), she was tasked in 2017 by the Deputy Federal Air Surgeon to manage the Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence project within AAM, which included data analysis and the use of Tableau for visualization and reporting. This deployment has changed the way AAM does business in that the data that was previously only available through individual report requests, and is now visible online and available for downloading as needed in our regional offices. The resulting visuals show up to date numbers and graphics on the Federal Air Surgeon’s dashboard for his use in executive meetings as well as his speaking engagements to pilots, doctors, Congress, and the general public.
